Sunfall Festival Lights Up the Wrapsody - MTV Online The reason for all the buzz surrounding locals SUNFALL FESTIVAL was quite evident on March 14, as the band played a CD release party for its new EP, On the Verge. DAN RENEER, perhaps best known for fronting Honeytree, played a mostly acoustic set as a solo act to open the show, which was held at the Wrapsody. SUNFALL FESTIVALcomprised of singer Amy Greetham, guitarist Scott Wiley, drummer Chris Peterson, and bass player George Bruntbrought their unique meld of musical sounds to the stage just after ten oclock. The quartet dove into a nine-song set by leading off with the title track from the new EP. Highlights of the performance included was it good?" and the finale "me in," both of which are to be found on the bands debut effort Absolutely Splendid. The vocals and guitar parts were at the fore in shaping SUNFALL FESTIVALs sound. Greetham was in command of the stage, combining a talented voice with an intense approach to her lyrics. Wiley, in spite of the occasional off-the-wall comment between songs, showed his guitar playing to not only be expert but also eclectic. The two in tandem helped mold the concert into a moody, darkly melodic affair; Peterson and Brunt capably managed to keep a rhythm while holding down the low end for the band. RENEER started out his opening set by himself, singing and playing acoustic guitar. He plugged in an electric guitar and was joined onstage by Peterson and Brundt for the last few songs. RENEERs guitar soloing and energy, backed by the efficient SUNFALL FESTIVAL rhythm section, were quite a treat together. The main set was trimmed down a bit from what you could normally expect out of a SUNFALL FESTIVAL show. The reason for the abbreviated set, according to the band, was that they wanted to have some time following the show to meet and greet members of the audience, which included Pro Bowl quarterback Steve Young. - Jamie Askar, MTV Online
