Dec. 17, 2001

Chalk another one up for Utah. The band Used (Scott recorded some of these guys) just signed with Warner Bros. Records. Huge congrats! Now go buy our record. :)

We'll soon be updating you on our record deal negotiations...for those that have been following the saga.

Nov. 29 , 2001

There was an incredible energy on stage tonight -- a continuation of what began on our last night of the West Coast tour. Scott was right when he said each song was like climbing a StairMaster. It was intense. We want to make sure you people who came know how much we appreciate the support and encouragement. Seven years now...crazy.

Positive news: city council retracted any threats to enforce the Dance Hall Ordinance (see the movie Footloose) on Johnny B's club. Many of you made waves by contacting the mayor's office. Endless thank you's. We'll have to see how it all pans out, but chalk one up for local artists. We're taking a brief break over the holidays and will see you in January (check our live dates).

P.S. Sunfall Super Fans, let us know you made it home all right (sorry about the Weezer fan clubbies comment).

Nov. 21 , 2001

Here's wishing you a happy Thanksgiving. We hope to see you Utahns on Thursday the 29th at Johnny B's. The club (the last standing music club in Provo) will be shutting it's doors that night. Please come out and support Jamen Brooks and us as we bid farewell to the Provo scene as we all know it.

Nov. 11 , 2001

Sincere apologies to anyone who showed up to the Fullerton gig only to have found out we had to cancel. We feel terrible for doing that and will try to make it up to you. Please forgive us. We hope you enjoyed our good friends Tarmac (we hope they're still our friends after ditching them like that).

The rest of the California dates were glitchless and we met some great people on the trip (Vienna, Patrick from GB, Eric, the list goes on...). We all are much fatter from all the fantastic gas station food. Thanks Exxon.

Nov. 4 , 2001

Had our last "practice" last night (anytime we play a private party where they guarantee 300, it ends up being a practice). Great show though. We're finally getting to that point that Paul talked about. If you're playing out constantly, and really focusing on your music, the worst shows will be enjoyable.

We leave in a few hours for our west coast shows. We'll be meeting at Paul's house in Hollywood on Tuesday to talk about the new songs and a schedule for the new album. How we got hooked up with a producer like him is beyond us.

Only one of the shows seems a little sketchy...the rest we're really excited about. Most of us are originally from L.A., and we have friends in San Fran, so it will be nice to see familiar faces on the road. Last time we played Spaceland a circuit breaker went wacko and killed the momentum of the set. We sucked pretty bad. Having our lawyer fly out from NY to assess our live show, and then have that mishap...man, we really have come a long way. Hopefully Spaceland has fixed the electricity problems - either way, I think we could overcome something like that these days. Anyway, time to pack the bags.

October 19, 2001

2 a.m. Just got back from our Helena, Montana show and watching Sigur Ros on "Reverb." This band rules. Anyway, the show tonight was overly enjoyable. People in Montana are extremely kind. Long live Watsonville Patio! They could not be more accommodating or kind, even after Chris hit their dog with a frisbee! (We've taken to calling them "Thoughtfulville Nice-io").

Speaking of frisbee, George and I plan on playing 18 holes of disc golf tomorrow before heading to Missoula. Cant wait for that show. Hope to see you soon.

October 18 , 2001

Sitting in a quaint little hotel room at Louis and Clark's in Bozeman, Montana. A few of us are about to go hit the swimming pool (oh, life on the road), before heading over to the club that we're playing at tonight. Watsonville Patio (our buddies from L.A.) just stopped by to say hey. We're playing with them for the next week. I wonder when they'll find out that we spelled their name wrong on the Utah posters. Woops. Anyway, the show this afternoon at the college was a little sketchy. I think we played a too hard for the room. We did get some good video of people trying to sleep while we played. I wonder if the guy who was picking his nose knows that we have it all on tape.

October 8 , 2001

'Monday 23' is the top-selling album at the Garageband Records store. Muchas gracias. The single "I Walked Away" is still in the top 10 all-time favorites. Muchas gracias otra vez. (By the way, for all you following the Garageband Records contract negotiation -- we're getting very close.)

Sunfall is getting ready for our short Montana tour next week, followed by a stint on the West Coast. Look for California dates on our live page soon.

September 21 , 2001

Per the request of many, we're planning a tour of the West Coast. We need a little support. If you're from, or have connections to, San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo or San Francisco, and wouldn't mind getting some perks, please email management at sarah@sunfallfestival.com.

In other news, we have a lot of new songs. Hope to have something up to listen to soon.

September 13 , 2001

We would like to extend our sympathies towards the families of the victims of the tragedies in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania.

Until recently, George lived just blocks from the devastating attack in Manhattan. We are happy he moved back to rejoin the band, and we wish the best for his friends and neighbors in New York.

September 5, 2001

Mad props to Amy and Yoni who tied the knot last night in front of family and friends. Our little girl is all growd up, she gots a new last name an' everything. Much love, much love.

August 8 , 2001

So much to report...where to start?
First and foremost we would like to welcome to the world the newest Sunfall Festival fan (we hope); Dexter G Brunt was born August 7th. Mom and baby are doing fine, oh, and so is George.
We recently contributed a song to the soundtrack for the movie Brigham City. If you are interested in checking it out cds are available in most Utah CD shops, or by clicking here.
We hope to see you at our upcoming shows, stop by the live page to check out the dates.

July 31, 2001

Want to discuss the band? Want to ask questions? Want to meet that special someone (who's also a Sunfall fan)? Then sign up for the Sunfall Egroup! - Just click to enhance and enrich your life.

July 25, 2001

So, we think that Sunfall might really be hitting the big time. We have heard, from a very reliable source, that Julie from MTV's The Real World New Orleans, might have been at the Freedom Festival show, July 3rd. If that isn't reason enough to get you out to see the band, then I just dont know what is.

July 12, 2001

We're meeting with another producer from L.A. on Tuesday. He wanted to hear the new songs before he came up, so we're in the studio late tonight and tomorrow tracking "Punish You" and whatever Amy calls the other new song. If they come out OK, maybe we'll slap them up for your downloading pleasure.

July 4, 2001

Happy 4th to all the Americans. We're on a short vacation from the band for about a week, then more rehearsing, writing and playing out. Thanks to all who came out to the show last night...by far one of our favorite shows yet. We're starting to play out our new songs, and they seem to be going over really well. We recorded the show last night -- it'll be interesting to hear what the new songs sound like on tape. We're really in a pop phase right now...leaning farther away from our mellow-dramatic stuff. But I think that's just the preasure of getting signed and thinking we need radio songs. I'm sure we'll start writing more obscure stuff along with the new popier songs.

June 23, 2001

We've really been enjoying playing live again. We're practicing a lot, writing new material, and even went out and bought ourselves a big trailer to lug all our large gear in. Look for it on a freeway near you. It says "Sunfall Festival Racing Team" on the sides. Whenever we pull into a 7-11 for dinner someone will ask "hey, what do you guys race." George tells them we race guitars. It's good to have George back. We're all laughing a lot more these days.

So, thanks for coming out to the shows...we hope to see you soon. Big props to Tiffany, Brigid and Jamie - three fans who have been putting a lot of miles on their cars to see us play the same songs every night.

The recording contracts with Garageband Records are coming along nicely. Just about finished with the negotiations, and just about ready to choose a producer for the new album. In the mean time, playing live and writing will fill our days.

May 28, 2001

Happy Memorial Day!

Congratulations to Chris and his lovely bride Renae who got hitched this past Saturday, May 26th. They are off to Tahiti to celebrate their love!

George will be back in good old Provo any day now, and as you can see (/live.html) we have set up quite a few shows to celebrate his return.

May 9, 2001

Still in discussion about all the record deal stuff. We've had the chance now to talk to a few different producers. It was strange getting feedback and praise from a producer who a few of the band members have respected for years - particularly his work with Grant Lee Buffalo and 10,000 Maniacs.

Things are still developing, but nothing is finalized. One thing that's nice: every time we call or email our A&R rep at the label, we get immediate and helpful response. I think that's a good sign. We're pretty tired of the process and just want it to be done. Signing a record deal is a pain in the butt.

April 24, 2001

We had our first meeting with a producer to talk about the major label debut. No name mentioning, but he and his manager were extremely cool and we all had a fun time. They flew out from London and were in awe at the mountains. We're about 15 minutes from Robert Redford's Sundance resort, so we took a walk around there to talk. They were blown away at the view. We spent a good part of the day hanging out in the studio and working on a song we've been asked to record for a movie soundtrack. All in all, very cool guys. The fact that he was willing to move from London for a few months to work on our album here in Provo was very encouraging.

April 18, 2001

A huge thank you to everyone that came to our CD release party last night. We were told we're the first band to sell out Johnny B's. So, thanks for everyone who decided to forego everything else they had to do last night and show up to listen to our new songs. It was great to finally play live again and feel that energy. All in all, it was a great experience and we're happy to have your support - sorry for starting late...not our fault :)

By the way, wasn't Jamen Brooks amazing? You can hear more of his stuff at http://www.mp3.com/jamenbrooks

So, next show is at Kilby Court in Salt Lake City on Monday, April 30 (one week after the official release of the new album). We go on at 8 p.m. More info about the show on the live page.

April 9, 2001

Just got back from the Low show. We all had fun, hadn't seen them play in over a year, plus we got to see a lot of friends we haven't talked to in a while.

We're now shipping the new albums. Official release date isn't for another 2 weeks, but we're selling them online and at our show next Tuesday. Online orders are shipped same day. So, go at it!

April 6, 2001

After nearly a year straight in the studio, with few live shows, it feels great to finally be practicing again and getting our live show together. We've asked our good friend Scott J. to help out in the keyboard dept. It's all coming together. Scott W. gets back from Europe tomorrow, and we'll begin a healthy regimen of daily rehearsals to get things together for coming shows. We have a meeting next week with some representatives from our label to talk about a possible producer. Don't really want to mention names yet, because none of us really have any idea of how this will all work out. Exciting none the less. The gentlemen flying out to meet us has worked with Sting, the Beatles, KulaShaker, Elvis Costello, Peter Gabriel, Bob Dylan, etc., etc. Pretty freaky.

March 23, 2001

Ready, set, go! The new album(s) are ready for sale. Order your copy today and have it shipped before the official release date of Monday, April 23 (for less than store prices, we might add).

Also, Utah people, ensure yourself entrance to the show on April 17 by purchasing your tickets online. Only $5 online. Jamen Brooks, former lead singer of the great band Clover, will be opening.

March 15, 2001

So late last night Scott was working on the final mixes of the album when the evil computer trashed a good portion of "Victim." Scott was happy. The best part is that all the tracks we lost were produced by Sophina, so now we have to bug them again to work their magic on that song. Nice. But, deadlines are deadlines, and we're still on track to meet our release date. We'll let you know when that is soon. In the mean time, go win yourself a FREE copy of the new album.

March 9, 2001

Well, while we wrap up the final touches on the new album, we thought we'd give you a chance to win some FREE MUSIC. Try your luck, and see if you don't get yourself a free copy of Monday 23 plus 17 B-side songs. Enter here.

Feb 26, 2001

So very close we are. Strings about finished. Final touches almost finished. Mixing underway. Artwork just about complete. Mastering day chosen. Stay tuned for a release date.

Feb 14, 2001

Happy Singles Awareness Day. Recording and mixing of Monday 23 is coming along just swell. Tomorrow we're finishing some vocal touches on "1st Time" and Friday the string players and arranger are coming in to play on "Monday 23." Scott has been mixing the songs that are complete, Chris has been working on the CD art and liner notes. Still no release date, but we're closer than we were last time you checked in. Sophina Sound is going to produce "Victim" for us. It's a song we've been having some trouble completing. We're starting over and bringing in Finn and Yoni to give it a fresh start. George will be in town this weekend (from NY) and we'll be together again - one happy family. Our No. 1 fan, Jon C. will be taking some press photos of us (something we all hate to do, but we haven't had a current photo of the four of us in over two years). That's all for now. Go get kissed.

Jan 16, 2001

The last few weeks have been pretty slow as far as our working on the new album goes. The whole garageband record deal and holidays kept us out of the studio. Scott's been really busy recording, just not Sunfall stuff. We'll get back into the studio soon. Supposedly, we're having the strings for a few of the songs recorded this month.

No new news to share with you concerning the record deal. Our lawyer will be duking it out with their lawyer, and we'll have more details in the weeks to come. Thanks for the emails and taking such an interest.

Jan 3, 2001

Over the holidays Ed Stasium from garageband gave our song "I Walked Away" a really nice review. Mr. Stasium has worked with some very cool artists over his 30 year career, including Mick Jagger, The Ramones, The Talking Heads, and Joan Jett.

December 20, 2000

Well, the song "I Walked Away" has officially won us a garageband.com $250,000 recording contract! Obviously, we're all very shocked and happy. It's still sinking in.

garageband called us on Monday afternoon to make sure they had the correct contact information for the band. They told Scott they wanted to make sure this was the right Sunfall Festival and that we may be hearing from them shortly. Scott asked if that meant we had won, but the kind lady said, "I don't know, we're going to be announcing the winner very shortly, so that might mean we may call you."

So, Scott called Amy and I, we went over to the studio and they called back. It was very strange to be told we had just secured a contract to put out an album with a $250,000 budget. Dream come true for the band.

A few of the individuals involved with the label include Jerry Harrison (No Doubt, Foo Fighters, Talking Heads, Live), Cameron Sears (manager of the Greatful Dead) and Sir George Martin (the Beatles). Needless to say, we're very excited to be in such amazingly good hands.

Read the garageband.com interview here.

The rest of the details are yet to be explained and negotiated. We'll keep you informed. For now, have a happy holiday season. We know we're going to! :)

December 17, 2000

We've spent the last 4 days at No. 1 on garageband.com. Uh, did we mention that's a $250,000 recording contract for first place?!?!. "I Walked Away" made it to No. 1 in pop/rock, No. 1 in the current countdown, and now we've placed at No. 1 on the All-Time Charts. What does this mean? Who knows. You have to be No. 1 when it all ends, and no one seems to know when the exact day is. We just want it all to end so some of the band can start sleeping again.

Click here to see for yourselves. You should check out garageband.com. Cool site. Review music, get free CDs. Please don't forget to give us a nice vote if you run accross our song while reviewing music.

December 6, 2000

Rather incredible, but we've actually made it into the Top Ten on garageband.com's countdown for $250,000. Click here.

December 5, 2000

The Christmas CD is selling quickly. We were given a limited supply, so check the online store for availability.

We've finally gotten up some videos from the recording sessions, and will update them frequently. Watch how much fun it is to spend hours sitting in front of loud speakers in a small room.

Ever been to Garageband.com? This site searches through oodles and oodles of unsigned bands, and allows visitors to critique the songs. Amazingly enough, our song "I Walked Away" has made it into the Top 5 in its category and in the Top 20 overall. Winner gets $250,000. Uh, that's a lot of Krispy Kreme donuts.

November 16, 2000

The Christmas compilation CD we appear on is due out in the next week or two. We'll be selling it in our online store for $5. We have a limited number, so get them while they're cheap. Regular store prices will probably be around $12-$15, but we wanted to give you a deal since there's only one of our songs on there.

Here's a sneak peak of one of the songs off Monday 23. It's called "Wah Oh."

October 12, 2000

Last night we recorded a Christmas song for a compilation CD coming out during the holidays. We covered "Still, Still, Still" - Amy's favorite Christmas song. Amy sings in German. It's a pretty song...be on the lookout for news about that CD.

Other big news: Amy is engaged. Yup, Amy is getting hitched. There goes half our fan base. Oh well. Hopefully the new album will prove we have solid songs, and not just a pretty face. Congrats to Amy and Ryan.

October 9, 2000

Listening to rough mixes of the new album right now. It's really turning out. We'll be getting the songs up, two at a time or so, for all you pre-orderers. Keep an eye open for an email.

We had our last day of full-band tracking. How many times during the recording of this album have we had our "bassist of the moment" running out the door to catch a plane? For some reason, it always works. "Your Words Shot Through," has the energy and sound we wanted. It was a stressful day, full of everyone's individual dramas, but it worked out n the end.

I like the way "Someone's Favorite Song" came out. I'm voting for first slot on the album. It's been the song we open with lately.

Keep on being patient. Sometimes we wish we never starting pre-selling this album. If we would have seen upcoming perils, we never would have. But at the same time, I think the people that pre-ordered have helped keep the band together during an interesting time - when no one knew if we even wanted to go on.

September 20, 2000

Scott and Chris working on some pre-mixes of a few songs. Amy's vocals came out great. Things are definitely shaping up. We're planning on tracking the last two songs on the 30th. Tomorrow night Scott Johnson is coming in for keyboard tracks. The earliest we can get the string players in is sometime during October. That pushes things back a bit, but the songs that are getting strings really will sound so much cooler.

So, we want your feedback. If you were one of the lucky ones to pre-order Monday 23 almost a year ago (he he), then you'll be getting an email with a web address to check out mp3 or real audio versions of about 15 or 20 songs. We want you to be a part of this whole album-making process, so we're hoping you'll email us with feedback, ideas, song order suggestions, what you liked and didn't like, etc. The songs will be pretty rough, but you'll at least be getting something, right?

We're not sure if another band has done this (letting the fans help choose the songs, pick song order, offer suggestions on sounds, etc), but we thought it would be pretty fun. We're making the album for you, so why shouldn't you be involved?

September 18, 2000

Hey, Amy and I got lots of good vocals done today, and we even made some headway on "Victim". We are thinking that we should re-record "Neices and Nephews" and put it on the album. I think it is a great song and would fill the soft acoustic slot. Scott

August 14, 2000

it's well into the evening recording and my vocals aren't coming along as well as wanted. vocals for devistation and wah - oh. we lit candles and turned the lights down low to put me in the mood but i'm still so "pitchy". so i'm talking a break. Scott Johnson is doing some keyboard stuff. Chris in the meantime keeps things interesting by video taping everything-sticking the camera in our faces.

by the way the last entry that was written tends to sound like Amy (me) was a flake and didn't bother to show up or let anybody know where i was, the truth was, i was stuck in vegas for a friend's wedding that was supposed to be on the 11th but ended up being on the 12th. so it wasn't like i was out livin' it up while the guys were stuck doing the work. ok. someone was mr. poopy pants.

August 12, 2000

5:10 p.m. - It's Saturday. Scott and Chris have been in the studio working on finishing touches to a few of the songs (acoustic guitar overdubs, bells and tamborine stuff, etc.). Amy was supposed to be over to finish up final vocals on a few songs, and Scott Johnson (an amazing keyboardist) was supposed to be here to put down some organ and piano parts, but neither of them showed up. Hmmmm. Deadlines, people, deadlines (but i guess we can't really get bummed with Scott since he's playing for free). Anyhoo, recording is going good. Right now we're pulling some of the older songs from tape to the computer to get them ready for final overdubs (and watching Celebrity Jeopardy on a Saturday Night Live rerun).

So, "Monday 23" should have either 13 or 14 songs on it, and the "23 B-Sides" album will have, yup, 23 tracks. Live tracks, outtakes, acoustic versions of the final versions, etc., etc...

All but one of the songs have been recorded. We've been playing "Your Words Shot Through" at shows for about 5 months now, but haven't recorded it to tape (we were supposed to do that today, but some people decided not to show). Hopefully Amy will be finished with most of her vocal tracks and Scott Johnson will done with any keyboard parts by the end of the month. We'll track "Your Words" and then be ready for the string players to come in and play on four songs. After that, just mixing and mastering. So, if you can figure out a release date from all that, then add a few weeks to it.

August 4, 2000

Email from Scott - "well andy and I have been picking up whatever time has been available and recording. i got all my parts for 'someones favorite song' done and we have quite a bit of work on 'devastation,' which is a really hard one for me to pick what to play and on what instrument. anyway, i was hoping we could record "your words" this saturday."

We're getting close. Starting to see the end of this project. Trust me, we're as happy as most of you who pre-ordered the CD (and you can trust we won't be pre-selling a CD again). It's sounding GREAT (if a band member can say their stuff sounds great) and we're really, really excited to get feedback from you all.

I'll be uploading some clips of new songs to the site in the next few weeks. Keep on holding on, we're really close.

May 4, 2000

The studio is almost complete! It's been a long 6 months away from recording, and we're all excited to get back in the studio as soon as we can coordinate schedules, decide on songs, blah blah blah.

We have a release date in mind for Monday 23, but we're not sharing that with anyone until we really think we can hit that goal (anyone who pre-ordered Monday 23 can vouch that we SUCK at hitting release dates). Some fans ordered the CD 8 months ago thinking it would be out in a matter of months. How sad is that? :( Sorry. We'll do something extra special for you...promise.

Anyway, we've written new material and played out quite a bit this year, so we'll be starting from scratch on a few songs and re-recording new versions (hopefully better) of a few songs. Expect some interesting string arrangements (we've hired a talented guy for that dept.) on four or five songs. Scott just bought a grand piano, so we'll be playing with that as well. In short, expect a somewhat different, more produced, and more emotionally charged album. That's it for now. Thanks for checking in.

March 27, 2000

We had a really good time playing with Govinda the other night. Nice guys.

Thanks to all you devotees for coming out. Probably the best part of the night was looking over at George onstage with us again. It's too bad he's such a smart guy and has to do all that smart-guy-law-school stuff, cause playing as a five piece with Dan and George was pretty wicked awesome.

Anyway, hopefully we'll have some pics of that show up in a few days. Our photo section needs an overhaul. John C., one of the coolest sunfall friends we've ever known, took a few rolls of film. And as soon as we finish some more painting at the studio, we'll take some pictures so you can see the facelift that's pushed the album so far back. So check back in a few weeks and we'll give you a tour of the studio and have some more up-to-date photography. See ya.

March 6, 2000

The Bonus CD promotion (when you pre-order Monday 23) is now officially over. You can still pre-order the album however. We'll let you know if the Bonus CD of B-sides will be available for purchase at some point. As for now, we're just trying to focus on finishing Monday 23.

March 1, 2000

Dan, Scott, and Chris all worked on the studio tonight...getting it closer, sanding, stripping paint, looking at all the new audio gear. It's really funny to have hard labor be a part of making an album. We went out to dinner to a Japanese restaurant with Sarah (our manager/Scott's wife) and little Brendo. We had our own little room and sat down on mats laughing at really sick stories Dan was sharing.

February 26, 2000

Really, there's nothing special to report, it just had been too long since the last update. Everyone is doing well. Scott's studio is almost finished. We'll have some pics and stuff as soon as we're back recording so you can see what the new and improved studio looks like. Scott really has outdone himself with this whole thing. The house looks killer and every artist in town seems to be waiting until everything is up and running so they can get into the vibe of the house and recording that will go on there.

We've been playing out quite a bit lately. Having fun doing that. Some shows are pretty sloppy because of our lack of practicing over the last couple of months, but you know, I've kinda liked how lose and real a few of these past shows have been. We're having fun. Just like it should be when four friends get together to make music. We wrote a new song a couple of weeks ago that will definitely be on the new album. Amy and Scott sing together on it, and the whole thing has a cool blend to it. Recording again will be such a blast. I think this may be the longest we've been away from the studio. That's about it for now. We'll try and be a little better with the updates. Until then, happy living.

December 13, 1999

We've been asked to appear on an Artists for Humanity compilation CD called "A Woman's Worth - Volume 1." This CD is available through MP3.com. We're really happy to have our song on this project. All artist proceeds from the sale and download of songs from "A Woman's Worth" will be donated to "Sojourn Service", a non-profit group dedicated to the assistance and recovery of battered and abused women and children.

About a month ago MP3.com featured Sunfall Festival and "Normal". The song, as Amy has puts, is about how un-normal abuse is. A promoter in Los Angeles heard the song on MP3.com and thought it would fit well on the benefit CD.

Top downloading artists such as Fisher, Anet, Scott Meldrum, and Interscope Recording artist Duke Daniels are also on the two-volume set. --->Click here for more info.

October 19, 1999

Brenden has his own page. --> Click here <---

October 9, 1999

Last night we wrote two new songs in the studio while rehersing with Dan. We'll be playing them at the Provo show on Thursday. They will probably be going on Monday 23, not the B-sides album. (more info below about the B-sides album). see ya.

October 6, 1999

Hope you're enjoying the new site. We'll be in and out of the studio for the next few weeks, reworking some new songs on Monday 23. The new release date is Jan. 2000. That's not that long. Be patient. We want it to be worth your hard-earned cash.

Did you know we're releasing a B-sides album at the same time? It will be available free only to those who preorder Monday23 online. There's a lot of songs that didn't fit the new album's style. Instead of having them all lost and put on a shelf somewhere to collect dust, we thought we would share them with those that really wanted to hear other things we've been working on. Be sure to secure yours by ordering Monday 23 online.

Sarah (our manager) and Scott (our guitarist) had a baby! Brenden is very cool. He was born listening to music. Not ours, so he'll be ok. We're trying to teach him to play bass. You need to visit Brenden's page (as soon as it's up) if you're into cute kids.

It's been a while. We've been working on a new album for a while now, but when we were going to release it was anyone's guess. In May we went back into the studio to continue work on Monday 23, and everything clicked. We recorded some 13 or so songs, most of them completely live with the addition of our friend Dan Reneer from Honeytree. The songs are capturing a live and real Sunfall Festival. The recordings a very depicting of the emotions we try to convey during our live performances. So, we'll be working on the rest of the album through the end of the year and hope to release it in January. It's looking hopeful. Thanks for checking in.

May 4, 1999

Amy pierced her ears.

April 25, 1999

We're pretty far into the the new CD, which will be entitled "Monday 23". A lot of people are asking what "Monday 23" means. The artwork for the new album was painted by Amy on Monday the 23rd. We all thought it would be a good album name.

We've been playing quite a bit lately. We flew out to the east coast to play. Some fun times, except for Chris' emergency room experience in New York. It's all right. It will heal.

George, his wife Randi, and Chris all graduated from college on Friday. Amy also celebrated her 21st birthday on Friday.

January 22, 1999

Hey, really cool news!!!! We're one of the top ten finalists in Conan O'Brien's College Band Search. Visit www.nbc.com/conan and watch our video. It would be cool if you could vote for us too.

January 18, 1999

Officially started working on the new album today. Wrote and recorded a pretty ambient song in about 30 minutes. Fun stuff. I think I can speak for all of us when I say it's good to be back in the studio. The mood and style of the album is heading in a direction we hadn't yet captured on previous recordings. It's pretty emotional. We're trying to capture the mood of our live shows on the album. This might mean a lot of the album will be recorded live in the studio as opposed to tracking the parts one by one. And maybe we'll have a track or two from live shows. Don't know yet.

January 17, 1999

We made it to the finals of Utah's South by Southwest competition. Forty-five bands competed, and it's down to nine. We'll be playing in the finals this Sunday night (Jan. 24) at the Zephyr club in Salt Lake. Winner gets an all-expense-paid trip to perform in Austin, TX at the annual SXSW showcase. That would be cool. But, no breath holding allowed. We sure would appreciate any and all support from those interested. Bye Bye.

January 14, 1999

A really big thankyou to the few that came to the studio last night to help us weed out our live set and pick songs for the upcoming CD. Your input is really appreciated. Some of the members from the hard-core band Unsound Menace came and Blake suggested Scott light some of his guitars on fire and jump into the audience. We'll see about that one.

We enjoyed the long break we had over the holidays. It was much needed and sometimes downtime produces creativity. We wrote a new song called Victim our first practice back. The song leans more toward our "harder" side. A lot of the new songs are leaning that way. We usually write the more mellow songs in the studio. So that's probably what will happen on the new album. For the most part, though, the new songs tend to have a bit more of an edge. We'll try to get some RealAudio samples up real soon.

Sometime in December 1998

George scored in the 97th percentile on the LSAT. Rockstar or lawyer?

December 6, 1998

Thanks to all who came out to the show last night. It was fun to change things up a bit a set up on the floor of the venue with the audience on the stage and on couches. A few people commented that it was more intimate that way....kinda what we were shooting for. Anyway, that was our last Wrapsody show for a while. We're starting to record a lot of the new material at the first of the year. We still want to play out live as much as possible, but it probably won't be as steady as the last few months have been. We're itching to get back into the studio and record and write new songs.

October 31, 1998

We got a pretty cool feature at www.citysearch.com. Here's a link, or check it out at the review section of our site.

September 21, 1998

We went on the air tonight with the host of Radio Guapo on KOHS 91.7. They played "Mistakes" and "What it Feels Like." We're starting the works for our third album hopefully to come out sometime in early '99. Then we went and put up flyers for our show this friday, so you BETTER come.

August 8, 1998

Scott, Amy and George finished tracking and mixing down "Mistakes" and "What it Feels Like."

July 20, 1998

Sunfall Festival was invited to play the North by Northwest media and music industry showcase in Portland, Oregon. We were told by the panel that over 2,000 bands world wide apply for the 250 spots offered. It's pretty exciting news for us. The conference lasts four days at the end of August. A few of our favorite up-and-coming bands will be playing (such as the Given, Birddog and Sunset Valley) so it will be a blast just to be there.

Sometime in June 1998

George gets engaged. Sorry girls, come August he's no longer single.

May 14, 1998

Play at Mayfest. We played right before Everclear, then rushed to the nearest TV to watch the final episode of Sienfeld.

April 25, 1998

Play in some guitar shop in Salt Lake. Four people show up. Who advertised this one?

April 10, 1998

We play live on X96's morning show in Salt Lake. About 20 of us go and we end up playing "Family Fued" with some drunk guy who wandered into the studio. The Sunfall Festival family wins.

April 3, 1998

We arrive in L.A. for our show at Spaceland with Creeper Lagoon and David J. We finally meet with our lawyer. The show is a disaster (power went out, we choked) and we fear getting dropped by our lawyer the same day we meet. Luckily, that's not the case. We all spend a day with family and friends in L.A. and drive back to Utah.

March 14, 1998

The EP release was tonight. It was somewhat hectic. The CDs weren't finished until an hour before the show started. The pre-show band activity was to get body massages. However, on the way to our appointment Chris' car broke down. While Chris and Scott worried about the car and the CDs, Amy and George enjoyed an hour-long massage. Unfair. The show went well. It sold out and people seem to like the new songs.

February 20, 1998

We went into the studio today to begin finishing up on tracks for the new EP. During the session we met with Jamie from MTV Online for our local feature story sometime next month.

i'm not quite sure how to say this... so i'll just blurt it out, k? i found another grey hair on my head today. that makes 441. i'm officially not as young as i used to be. anybody else out there feelin' old? starting to feel it in your knees? i went out shopping to see about this "just for men" product, and now my knees are tired. go figure. blah blah. just wanted to find out if any one remembers a band called sunfall. we're all older now, some of us went on to have new careers as parents. some of us went on to start our own companies. a few of us still haven't matured past 14... (streissand can be heard, humming in the background). ah, yes. those were the days. anywho, hope you're all well. let me know for sure. -dig dug

isn't there something going on out there in the world that requires the attention of someone important? i only ask, because i cancelled my cable service. $50 a month for information is just too much for me...

i'm thinking of enrolling again in college... it'd be strange, you know, me being a bit older than the undergrad class majority. most of the kids in college now are the kindergarten class from my senior year, you know. the trick is, i'm thinking, is to find the right major. i'm really good at checking email, and staring intently into a computer monitor. i'm also good at reading people's minds. is there a degree program for that kind of thing? actually, what i'm really most interested in would be telekinesis or prestidigitation. i don't know, maybe i'm just kidding myself. yeah, politics is a much better field for me. i could see myself as a senator some day. representing the great state of ohio, as the lone liberal. this is much more appealing. see you all soon in poli-sci 101. -dig dug

i've written a new theme song for my life... well, more a melody than a song, but it works just the same. want to know how it goes? it's just three short, but extremely loud notes. unfortunately, i haven't had the chance to record it yet, so you can't hear it until i do, but it sounds like: BUNH, Bum, BAAAAANNNNNNHHHHHHHHHHH! very sinister, a little foreboding, but definitely dramatic. it is NOT romantic, and definitely NOT funny, unless you're one of the sick people out there who sees great humor in the movies of ed wood. as soon as i can, i'll book some time over at june audio and lay it down. then, i'll post it on our site, then you can all download it to your cell phones, and program it so that when i call you, it will announce me with an appropriate ring. that's the real motivation behind the whole thing. i can't bear hearing another song that was written centuries ago, bastardized to the point of having it played in sine waves by some unthinking machine like a cell phone. i seriously doubt that any of those composers ever wanted their songs to be presented in that fashion. it's like seeing the mona lisa on a lunch box. my theme, however, is meant to annoy and provoke you. i hope you all heave because of it. but in a good way. if there is a good way to heave. miss you guys. -dig dug

so it's summer again, and again, i've fallen for a big-eyed school marm. first it was ms. schuster in the second grade. man, what a wicked crush. i have no idea what happened at all in the lesson plans that year, but i do remember discovering some of the subtleties of the female form. she was so beautiful, and man, those were the days. jimmy carter was president, gas was 60 cents a gallon, and you could trust the ice cream man. it's easy to be in love when all's right with the world. ms. schuster... wow. she had these big eyes, i don't remember what color they were, i only remember that she wore alot of blue eye makeup. and really tight angora sweaters. and once, our class went on a roller skating field trip. you know how your teacher always seems so tall when you remember back to the second grade? well imagine them with roller skates and big, blue-ish eyes, and a tight angora sweater. man oh man. plus, she drove a big oldsmobile. a big, blue-ish ered woman, wearing an angora sweater and roller skates, while driving a big old american gas guzzler. but that was a long time ago. then came my high school speech team/ drama coach. she'll remain nameless. wow, big brown eyes, never wore eye makeup, was about my height, but three times my intellect, and five times more mature than me. but that never stopped me. we had very little in common, except for al jarreau and an appreciation for mel brooks movies. bleaker times, though. reaganomics had pretty much screwed the work class blind by then, social security was in ruins, the federal deficit was astronomical, air supply had broken up, david lee roth's solo career was turning into a giant steaming mass of foul stench, every major professional sports team within a hundred mile radius of my home stunk, except for the cleveland cavaliers, but you had this sinking feeling that even though they were doing well, they'd figure out a way to completely screw that up, as such, every victory was a bit hollow. but nameless and i, at least we had each other's attention. wow. big brown eyes... and a propensity for sweaters (not, of course, in the summer, though.) well, that one didn't last either. and now, fifteen years later, another school marm, this time, i'm the older one in the equation (not by much), but she's the one with big hazel eyes. and olive skin. and a great smile. and this great way of saying hello in the morning. and she teaches blind children, so she's got patience. and she likes to read, and she doesn't seem to need idle chatter. and she drives an american car (though not a gas guzzler). and she'd probably be stunning in roller skates, after all, she's stunning. and she's not married ( i hate when that happens). and she likes guys ( i hate it when that isn't the case) and she even laughs at my stupid jokes. and she voted liberal in the last election. and she lives in boston and i'll probably never see her again when she leaves the day after tomorrow. oh man, i hate it when that happens. anyhow, how are you? i miss you guys... -dig dug

i've been sleeping in a strange room for a week now. i'm away from home with a certain project which has me working on several different levels, and so my mind is making some very unusual connections these days. what do you suppose this dream means? i'm standing in a gymnasium. it's very old, like a gym that might have been built in the 20's or 30's, where the seating is fixed and very close to the floor, separated only by a large iron fencing. two nuns are playing basketball at one end of the gym. not just shooting baskets, like a game of horse or something, but hard defense and driving to the hoop. they're very intense, but not much on talent. that's ok. they're nuns. what bothers me, though, is that i'm at the other end of the gym, minding my own business which, at the moment, is to paint the walls of the gym. i'm using a dark blue latex paint, semi-gloss, a 3" trimming brush and a 9" roller, heavy nap. i'm very serious about the task at hand. my reputation goes into every stroke. at this point, one of the nuns starts throwing the basketball all the way across the gym, against the wet wall where i've just painted. the ball bounces back to her four times, before she catches up to it. . . . she tells me that her name is sister mary kate and ashley. that's when her uncle enters the gym and starts telling really bad jokes about monkeys and democrats over the public address system, which only heightens my dislike for his sense of humor, at which point i leave, feeling disappointed for not finishing the job. depending on how much sleep i've had up to that point, i wake up feeling either totally frustrated, or feeling totally refreshed. -dig dug

somewhere, on the other side of the universe, a giant, scaly, hideous creature has just woken up from a perfect nap. it's completely oblivious to the trouble that is heading its way, in the form of another hideous, scaly, giant creature. hungry and driven, this soon to be foe has an appetite towards slow, methodical violence. outwardly, however, the beast appears lethargic and, well, stupid. this shadowy threat eeks forward on its own timeframe, aware that any sudden movement would certainly spoil this attempt towards satisfaction. and that's when it hits me... i really need to stop waking myself up to NPR. tomorrow, i'm switching my clock radio to X96. or maybe some country station. anything but the voice of this nation's last bastion of undiluted media, free and objective, in these woeful times. it's too depressing, especially since the stock exchange is open before i rise. any suggestions? -dig dug

well, i just dropped in, to see what condition my skin condition was in... and for the first time in a long time, i've got a bit of a sun-tan. yes, you'd hardly recognize me, what with my bronzed complexion and ever changing hair color. in fact, that might have been me at the chinese restaurant the other day. or maybe i was the guy next to you in line at home depot... it's all been part of an experiment to see if i can define the terms of "incognito" in my own special way. the first time i tried to do this was a total disaster. i figured that no-one would recognize me if i grew a beard and started eating mustard. all i got in return was a serious itch and a permanent dislike for all things vinegar-based. glad that's behind me. but as for this time, well, keep your eyes peeled. think of me as waldo, with an extreme distrust for all things related to politics. -dig dug ps. i won't be wearing any striped shirts, either... unless, of course, they have a slimming effect on my less than fit abdominal region.

so if you didn't happen to catch his speech, i'd encourage you all to at least read it. i don't know about you all, but i've become a bit skeptical of corporate america (and corporate politics, similarly). and as much as i hate to say it, the guy making the most sense right now is (a brief pause as i clear my throat) republican senator john mccain... of course, he's only restating what ralph nader has been screaming at the top of his lungs for the last 4 years, but he's doing so with at least some measure of press support. for those of you hoping that i might have some quasi-humorous insight to offer up at this time, don't hold your breath. i'm seriously angry (ed. note: the band, on the whole, refrains from the use of the word "pissed" whenever possible. in this case, "angry," while an obvious understatement, seems fitting enough.) humor may, or may not, resume in the near future. in the mean time, edumicate yourselves. hell's coming and he's got a copy of his latest bank statement in his hand. -dig dug

suggested listening for all y'all... i've been around the block a bit, and i'm not one to plug something that will probably do just fine without my public acknowledgement, but you guys should all check out medeski, martin, and wood's new release, "UNINVISIBLE". brilliant. i've been reborn with a new appreciation for jazz music. truly amazing. also, both of the latest tom waits records are inspiring and awesome. don't be afraid of the recording called "ALICE", it was written about the same time as his "BONE MACHINE" record, and is exactly what a storyteller's record should be... inviting, sad, enigmatic and what's more, it smells good. for those of you feeling a bit more adventurous, check out the new various artists compilation, "A DOWNTEMPO COLLECTION", including us, as well as a ton of other very talented, utah artists. check it out at here's what they would click on happy surfing, you crazy mixed up kids... -dug dug

yeah, probably the spider monkeys. you think they're cute, you start talking to them with a syrupy tone, then next thing you know, they've nearly taken your finger off with their razor sharp teeth. then they start chattering at you, and screaming in some language that you couldn't possibly understand, but you still get the feeling that you got the jist. man, spider monkeys are definitely worse than corporate america. thanks, wiley.

in response to this whole "scott=paul, chris=john, george=george" yadda yadda, i'm thinking that amy weighs in somewhere between alison krauss and nancy kerrigan. she gives sunfall the voice that the rest of us wish we had ourselves, and she probably continually asks of herself "what's with all this tonya harding crap? my life would be so much easier and less dramatic if that second-rate, so-called skater would just hang 'em up and retire before we're all hobbling around on crutches and appearing on really bad SNL skits..." but truthfully, that whole comparison, while very flattering, is entirely awkward. seriously, have you ever seen the whole band wear the same outfit to one of our shows? once, chris and i wore the same color shirts to a show, and it creeped us both out so much that we cancelled the show at the last minute... plus, none of us are left handed, or died in a car crash. and while i once went out with a japanese girl, she had no poetic sense whatsoever. in fact, she was decidedly un-hippy. she even voted for george bush, sr. yokosheain'tno. which is japanese for "see you next time, you silly republicrats!"

if two beings can live in harmony, each without disrupting the others quality of life, does it really matter whether their relationship is more parasitic than symbiotic? the host may not depend on the parasite, but hey... what about sheer flattery. that little critter could've chosen a lot of different hosts. but you know what... it didn't. yeah, that's right. i can dig. i say, live and let live. shine on, you crazy segmented, otherwise maligned, often misunderstood, fragile, little thing. hold your mandibular region up high. so, i've always been fascinated by the origins of our language, most specifically, every day phrases like "the whole nine yards" or "right as rain". so now i post to you, my friends, where did the phrase "candy ass" originate? it's always been a fence sitter for me, on the one hand, you think "candy" mmm... tasty... sweet... comes in a wrapper usually. good. then you think "ass"... bad. not good. i only ask, because i was recently told that the whole band used to dress like "candy asses". probably not a good thing. then again, maybe it's some sort of back handed compliment. i will go on record here and now, though, and proudly state that i haven't tucked my shirt in for over three and a half years. how's that for "candy dupa" (ed. note; the band, on the whole, refrains from using the word "ass" whenever possible, what with the surplus of other top quality substitutes for said word)? happy blogging... dig dug

I want to introduce you to a man we met on a tour boat in San Francisco. I think William Scherme is something of a local fixture. Not quite celebrity status, like the BushMan 2000, or any of the street performers down in the Warf, but I kind of imagine him to be a "regular," and, if our experience was at all indicative, a genuinely well-liked man.

He's been retired for some years, and seemed to know a lot about boats and the golden gate bridge and Alcatraz island. As far as I can gather, his days are spent riding on tour boats and the trolley, and striking up conversations with tourists. He was full of stories of the old days of San Fran, when downtown was filled with more "family" entertainment, well decorated theatres, good restaurants, safer streets. Midway through our boat ride, I started thinking that he was more of a spectre than fellow passenger. He seemed to know the boat so well, that it was hard to tell where he left off and the boat began. To me, he'll always be the voice of that boat ride… a bit slurred, hushed, and tired. Good company, Good times.
